Dear Family and Friends, May 20, 2009
Hello to my family and friends again. I haven’t written in a while and a lot has happened out in sunny San Diego. Often new beginnings and dreams bring praise and prayers needed. I first want to congratulate my Baby Brother and his new wife Jean for an awesome blessing coming in the form of another child and to my Baby Sister for graduating High School next month in North Carolina, send me an announcement Sis. I love you BOTH so much, pray for you everyday, and hope the best for you and your extended families. I am currently still in my studio, where I have a small yard for Jezebel and a big Jacuzzi tub. Still officiating and umpiring and working for the Boys and Girls Club. I picked up a summer contract working with foreign exchange students from China and am finding that the current economy is making the process of finding host families a challenge. Your prayers are needed for good people and the gift of hospitality to come out in these families in the Oceanside and surrounding areas area for ten Chinese to have homes for two weeks this summer.
Still going to Generation church located in Oceanside for a little over two years now. The numbers are growing as more and more people begin to seek the Lord. Instead of getting all huge in numbers and a bigger building, Generation church is planting church’s all around the surrounding Oceanside area, which currently has 165, 000 people and growing, just north of San Diego. Of that 165,000, there are a lot of un-churched and brainwashed people. Most speak English and just need to be loved. A lot of them are bi-lingual speaking families. Being so close to the beach, we also have one of the highest homeless populations in the country, women and children, as well as grown men. So I am going to help with a church plant to reach these people in the North Oceanside area, where I live, to help make disciples for Jesus, just as he commanded us to do in one of my favorite books of the New Testament, Mathew, chapter 28, or simply
The Great Commission.
I first thought,
“What do I know about planting a church? I am no bible scholar!” Then, I heard the pastor preach from
Judges Chapters 6-7, about the story of Gideon, which I had never read, since I tend to read the New Testament more. The story and sermon gave me confidence to step out in faith. He talked about being weak, being bold, and how these things will lead to overconfidence causing humility, where the Lord uses us best to glorify
Him. This pastor inspired me to read the powerful story of Gideon, the Warrior, and I thought of the
23 PSALM by David.
I just want to thank the Lord for this wonderful opportunity to reach people for You and to truly gain
victory for You, even when I am weak, You make me
bold, even when I am overconfident, You make me
humble, thank you, and in your name, Jesus Christ, amen. For it is when we are
WEAK that
HE is Strong as Paul plainly states in
2 Corinthians 12:7-12.
I am currently working with three new clients in my private tutoring business. A ninth grader, who lives down in San Diego, and we meet once a week. I also have two elementary students, a second grader and a fourth grader twice a week. I will be attending a referee clinic this summer to hopefully learn the 3-man mechanics. My association was trying to talk me into doing another camp, but we will see. I would like to see my sisters in Sacramento this summer, maybe we can meet again and go camping or something, email me. I want to see my Pops as well this summer, so keep in touch.
Continue to keep the church plant and me in your prayers, I love you all and we love you Lord, and I ask that You bless all those who read this letter and think about the Great Commission and where it takes place in their life Lord. My we all be disciples of Jesus and be
BOLD for Christ, in his name. Please let me know of any needed prayers.
God Bless you.
